Collection
There is nothing like the feeling of adventure and exploration. This collection is an encapsulation of just that. Creating these works gave me a way to mentally escape from my socially distanced summer. Besides the beautiful landscapes that served as my muse, I also used this collection to explore the use of shapes, textures and colors to create feelings deeper than simply a photograph of a place. These landscapes are mixed-media. I started with a loose acrylic painting, mapping out the shadows, highlights and changes in elevation, all represented with different colors. Then I added detail strokes using pastels and even finer strokes in soft pencil.
